The Kingmaker (All the King’s Men Duet #1) by Kennedy Ryan
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Amazon Blurb:
5+++ Stars kingmaker and king’s men. A delicious, unique read.
I just picked it up in random. This is my first book from this Author. Never expected this to be this good. This book got me hooked in the first few pages and made me immerse in the Lennix World. I never knew, there actually existed an American Indian Tribe (Native American’s). I had heard of Apache but never thought about it or digged deep into that. All thanks to author I got to know several facts or details in various domain.
When I read the prologue, I was sceptical as author mentioned Cattile pollen used for blessings, but however I got a feeling that several things may actually happen and did a google on that. I was surprised to see the results. I have no words on how to describe this book.
This is the first book in the duet series. It’s been classified mainly in 3 parts. Part 1 being short, 2 and 3 being moderate to big. The entire story of the book is in the blurb, however the way its written makes it unique. Story starts with Lennix Moon Hunter, a native American tribe member performing a traditional dance. Her culture and background are the base for her strong and powerful nature. She is proud of her heritage and goes to any lengths to save her tribe and heritage.
Maxim cade is born with money and will inherit his father’s empire one day. But his idea’s, belief and vision doesn’t match with his fathers. He has a mind of his own and he follows his ideas and tries to build his own empire. The tug between Lennix and Maxim is adorable and lovely. Author has covered the Lennix cultural background and Maxim’s dedication well.
There are several things I liked in this book. I have tried to list the one which made big impact on me.
- I loved conversations on “sustainability of fossil fuel as country’s energy resources”.
- Never knew Maldives is like just 6 feet above sea level, yes, I was aware of the fact that Amazon rain forest gives 20% of world’s oxygen, never knew on Maldives.
- I never knew about Iceblink or Ice steering the Ship.
- Antarctica being icy desert and point where tropical and artic merge
- Never knew about Bahia Paraiso oil spill.
Author really made me believe in the difference of ambition and passion. From the way it was written I feel she is definitely passionate about this book. Plot and pace of the book is Ok. I liked several secondary characters esp. Grim and Kimba. Owen and David are lovable. Viv and Wallace are adorable. Overall, I am in awe of this book and this author’s writing style and immense knowledge. This story was emotional and gripping and more than that I liked the conversation between characters. None of the conversation are useless baseless talk. It gives you lot of information. Go ahead and read it. Enjoy. I can’t wait for Nov 18th to come fast and read second book in the duet series.
