This is the second book in the series. It can be read as standalone as each story depicts different couple. This is about Scarlett and Tanner. Scarlett has lost someone in her past which inspired her to become a District Attorney to ensure that those who committed the crimes did the time. Tanner owns a club with his two best friends and has his own painful past.

Scarlett’s friend convinces her to go to the club to celebrate Scarlett’s birthday and convinces her to let go and enjoy on her birthday. Tanner see’s her at the club and he is immediately drawn to her and they enjoy a steamy night together agreeing for nothing more than that.

Tanner being club owner and Scarlett being ADA, couldn’t be more opposite if they tried but there is a connection between them that just can’t be ignored. Tanner has lot of anger issues and several other things from past.

At one instance you can see Scarlett convincing Tanner with below words.

“I saw a man struggling to maintain control and not lose his temper or let his anger get the best of him. I also saw a man who accomplished all of those things”.

Two very different people who thought one night would be enough come to terms with their pasts that haunt them on a daily basis. A love story that’s emotional and passionate with a fair few twists and turns and their own challenges.

“We all have our challenges. The key is how we rise to face them”

Will he be able to get past the walls that the workaholic ADA has erected? Or will their fears and insecurities drive them apart? Will they be able to rise and face them?

The pace of the story is ok. Plot has its own up and down, at times I felt it could have been better, yet you end up turning pages. Secondary characters are good. You get to see Jason – Faith (book 1 in this series) and Landon. Overall in my opinion it’s a good one time – time pass read.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for honest review.
