Isnt it fun to get to know the author behind the book? To know, what motivates them and how do they think and write? To know more on what goes on in their mind I have started this “Meet the Author” Series. Today we are meeting up with a promising Indian romance author. She is the author of the books, “Take a chance on me” & Beneath the lies series. Come on, Lets meet Sapna Bhog.
Thanks Sapna for answering all my questions and being here on my blog.
1.What and who inspires you to write books?
I like happy endings and that is why I write romance books as they always have a happy ending.
2.According to you, what is important to be a writer? Imagination to create stories or is it a narration that is important?
Dedication – that is most important because writing a book takes time and you have to be dedicated to write and finish your story. It’s a whole lot of effort to read your story over and over and edit it again and again till it’s good enough to go to a professional for the next step.
But yes imagination is important as well. If you can’t imagine it in your head then how can you take your readers into this world you are creating with your words?
3.Characteristic traits of main protagonist in your stories are generated by watching/observing the society closely or does it come through reading more stories or through your imagination
It’s actually a bit of watching/observing and imagination.
4. For your book “Beneath the Lies” Series – was character built before or story built before (Character Vs Plot)?
I think I created the character of Damien first in my head and with it came his story. So I imagined an English aristocrat who’s been living as a regular guy in India, married to an Indian girl and he goes to England and loses his memory.
5.When you were young, did you see writing as a career?
Not even in my dreams had I ever thought I’d be a writer some day. But some things are meant to happen and I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
6.What does literary success look like to you?
When readers message saying they loved a certain book of mine or that they’ve read it again because it gives them joy. Making that tiny impact in someone’s life that they reach out to you and praise your work – that is success.
7.What is your work schedule like while you are writing? How do you jiggle with your family time vs writing time?
I try and write at least 2000 words a day. But it’s not easy when there are work commitments and family around. So weekends I try to stay off work.
8. Can you share your Journey to be a full-time writer
I finished writing ‘Take a Chance on Me’ (my first book) in 2012 but I never thought to get it published. Having no writing experience, I was always concerned on how my work would be received. I finally took a plunge and got the book published in 2016 and haven’t looked back since.
9. Do you have any other series in mind to write apart from Forgotten Trilogy? What’s you next book you intend to write apart from Forgotten trilogy series?
I’m currently in the process of getting Book 4 in my Sehgal saga ready for release. This is my first series of stand-alone romance books all set in the same world with characters repeating in other books but a different couple’s story is shown in each book.
After this I hope to publish Book 2 and 3 in the Forgotten Trilogy.
10.Would you always want to write about Romance genre? If not, what other genres are you looking to get into?
As of now I see myself writing romance only. I would like to get into fantasy someday though, but it will have a romance in the background for sure.

About the book -Beneath the lies
Blurb
How would you feel when the man you have known and loved for the last five years is not who he said he was? That everything he ever told you was all a lie.
An accident changed our lives forever and now I have to bring him back to us because he doesn’t remember our life, our family or us. One minute, I was just a regular girl from India married to a man she loved, and the next, my life has changed completely because I’m married to an English Duke, who doesn’t remember me.
My name is Aaliya Singh Talbot and I will do whatever it takes to bring my husband back from the darkness and into the light.
I will make him remember no matter what I have to do!
I will make him remember everything – beneath all the lies!
