My thoughts

Note: Ends with cliffhanger and it’s a 4 series book. May contain spoilers from book 1

Liar is the second book in Madison Kate series. It picks up shortly after the events that left us hanging in Hate, the first book. In this book we get little more clarity on Kate along with boy’s background.

Book picks up after 2 weeks of the events from book1. Now Madison focus has been shifted to finding answers which led to several scenarios of her Mother’s murder along with the instances of her life. Stalker continues to stalk her and keep sending her gifts and hints to let her know he has kept a watch on her. Boys become hyper aware of this issue and they shadow her every moment. In this MK gradually develops her relationship with Kody and Steele. Archer is still mysterious, yet we see his involvement and how he is connected to two gangs in her city.

Individual relationship with Kody, Steele and MK were gradual and good. Kody is sexier, funnier and joyful character. Steele continues to be sweet, emotional and MK gets more attached to him. Their time together from playing games, making coffee, eating pizza, self-defense classes to MK, laid out a wonderful foundation. Archer is broody and plays hot and cold several times than I would have liked.

Plot moved at normal pace. Writing style was simple with unique characters. We see few more secondary charactersZane, is sort of intriguing, don’t know how he will turn out and what part he plays, let’s wait and see. Dallas was complete opposite of what was portraited in book 1. He turned out to be wanker. I’m still not happy with Bree. She doesn’t stand with MK much.

What I didn’t like – With such a mega climax, we still don’t get the depth of Archer. MK doesn’t try hard to find out about the secrets. She just goes with the flow.  MK’s pranks like pink color shampoo, salt in Coffee and paint shot gun were juvenile yet acceptable & lovable for teenagers, but she doesn’t move or try beyond that.

Overall, it has more drama, action, mystery with right balance of emotions. Let’s wait n see how other chapters in the next book unfolds.
