Title: Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3)
Author: Sarah J Mass
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Type: Series – Book3
Genre: YA NA Fantasy, Action and Adventure
Primary Characters: Celaena Sardothien (Aelin Galathynius), Rowen Whitethorn, Manon Blackbeak, Aedion Ashryver, Chaol Westfall, Dorian Havilliard
This book continues with the adventures of Celaena when she reaches Wendlyn and also opens up to broader aspects of what exactly is happening in different parts of Erilia. We meet several new characters in this book. If I have to summarize, this book highlights on what happens to 3 groups of people in different place at same time. One, Celaena’s journey in Wendlyn. Two, now that Chaol is aware of her true identity, plot moves around what happens in Rifthold. Three, we get to see more about witches and her group and what they are up to.
We see the transformation of Celaena from assassin to Queen. Fae prince Rowan helps her explore and test the limits her magic. Rowen character is introduced newly in this series, I’m totally in love with him. A very promising character. He might play a huge role in Aelin’s life and in upcoming war.
We see how Chaol deals with the aftermath of Celaena’s departure. I could understand his dilemma, conflict, pain and the state where he struggles to make decision. We meet Aedion Ashryver, a charming guy. We see how Dorian, Chaol and Aedion’s life interfere with each other in Rifthold. I was happy to see Dorian seeking comfort from Sorscha, but I personally felt, he deserves a strong & better companion and author didn’t disappoint me here, in the end.
Manon Blackbeak is the head of thirteen witches group and heir to Blackbeak clan. Ironteeth witch’s clan are training with Wyverns and preparing the aerial team to side along king in the upcoming war. We see different sides of Manon in this. She seems to play an important role; Will she be a great ally or will she become a bigger threat to Aelin? For now, she is wonderful, need to see how she turns out in the next series.
Totally loved the way Aelin explores magic and takes control of it. Action in the battlefield of Mistwood between Mistwood warriors(Aelin, Rowen) & Valg princes is epic. Fell more in love with this series. Wyverns were the highlight of this book. Plot was slow in the first half of the book. I didn’t like Celaena in the initial part as she isn’t quite confident about herself and refuses to accept her legacy. However, she made up to that in second part.
Overall, It’s an amazing sequel with magic exploration, drama, action and battle. A delicious treat for fantasy lovers.
