I just couldn’t resist myself any longer to read this book. I picked it soon after I finished book 3. This is another solid sequel. Book continuous to grow and plot becomes more of a tangled web. Several new characters are introduced. By now, series is clear that it’s a war between Good and Evil.
Aelin has embraced her identity and is back in Rifthold. We see several battles in this book. It was so wonderful to see Aelin in her element and in full force. She is apt to be a queen. She is sharp, cunning, fierce, shrewd, brave and showing exact amount of empathy & emotions. It’s a big book and didn’t lag anywhere.
There were certain slips by author here and there like “Checking the license plate of cab”, instead of “Carriage” and things like legal jargons. I could see some modern world snippets, buts it’s so tiny that we can ignore that.
Characters: I felt sorry for Dorain and disliked Chaol in this. Nesryn and Lysandra were amazing. I was skeptical about Lysandra initially but totally loved her by the end of the book. Manon is feast to eyes. It’s clear now that, witches play a huge role in war and loved the depth of Manon Character. Not sure how Elide will contribute. Kaltain’s role was surprising. Aedion is charming as ever and Rowen is a perfect mate.
Ending was literally jaw dropping. I couldn’t fathom the turn of events. Final battle in the Glass palace and the Battle in the Meadows between two main players were extraordinary. Action is the highlight of this book. An extremely solid, action filled sequel. Can’t wait to unearth the next book in the series.
