This is the first book in the absolutely captivating Lux series. I just didn’t pick this book even though it had been in my goodreads queue for a long while. This is my first book of the author and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I enjoyed the writing style.
After Katy’s father passed away, her mother decides it’s best for them to leave the house they used to live in and move some place new. Katy and her mom moves to the small town of Virginia. Her neighbours aren’t very welcoming in the beginning. Katy and Dee become very good friends, Daemon is forced to accept Katy into his life and, to his dismay, a friendship of sorts is formed. And things got even weirder when Katy spent time with her extremely beautiful neighbours, Dee and Daemon.
Katy is wonderful, down to earth, sassy, strong and feisty. Daemon was totally rocking being nasty and mean on surface. Things take a different turn when she discovers the neighbors next door are nothing she could have ever expected. One minute Katy & Daemon will be hot and cold neighbors and next Daemon is saving her life over and over.
There was never a dull moment in this first part of the series and once I got into the story, I ended up devouring it! I was surprised by those wonderful action packed scenes. They were awesome.
Narration is good. Flow of the book is fast. I could see some intriguing characters. I loved Dee! I do wish we got to see some more of her powers but I’m sure that will come out in future books. Thompson Brothers and Mr. Garrison were very intriguing. Let’s see how they turn up in next part of the series.
Overall, it was very entertaining read. The humour that is woven through the story along with tiny bit of suspense just adds more to it. You can pick this up, if you are into this sort of Alien Moja.

STARTING OVER SUCKS
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbour, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
AND THEN HE OPENED HIS MOUTH
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.
THE HOT ALIEN LIVING NEXT DOOR MARKS ME
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
IF I DON’T KILL HIM FIRST, THAT IS
