 Devil’s Deal by Aleatha Romig

Title: Devil’s Deal (Devil’s Duet #1)

Author:  Aleatha Romig

My Rating 🌟🌟🌟

Type: Contemporary Romance Fiction

Primary Characters: Rett & Emma

Narration: Dual POV

I am a fan of this author’s work so I was super excited to jump into this new book. By default, I have slightly high expectation from this author. May be I felt disappointed because I didn’t see the novelty.

Book starts with Rett and Emma entering into a marriage deal.  Rett is complicated and perplexing man who controls everything in New Orleans. He is strong and authoritative, but it wasn’t appealing.  Emma seemed Naïve and independent, however none of her character traits were highlighted well. Emma has a history with the city. Her parentage is secretive.  There wasn’t a whole lot going on until about 70-80% in.  Emma is just too easy most of the times. I didn’t find any unique characters in her personality at all.

Relationship development with Emma and Rett seemed forced, physical and it lagged in highlighting character traits super badly. I liked the twists, turns and mystery which came in the end but it wasn’t surprising.

Plot is ok. It went very slow in the beginning with an intriguing ending. I didn’t see the gripping narration which I have seen in some of the other books by this author. Some secondary characters are intriguing but they aren’t that great.

It does end on a cliffhanger. I still have no idea what exactly is going on and who is really pulling the strings. I do want to know the who’s and why’s, yet I personally feel this isn’t her best book. Let’s see how the sequel turns out.
