Type: Trilogy – Book 1
Genre: Fantasy, Magical world, Action & Adventure, Fiction
Primary Characters: Catalia, Griffin
Secondary Characters: Kato, Craver, Flynn

I picked this up on random without any expectations. This book is wonderful. This book exceeded all my expectations. It may look like fanciful, farfetched story. However, me being Indian and having heard so many similar stories with lot of mythical creatures, I adored this series. I binge read this and got to know a lot about Greek Mythology and its mythical creatures.
A Promise of Fire starts with Cat working as a soothsayer in a circus. She has an ability to identify truth. She can tell if someone lies to her. She hides her identity and the abilities she was born with. Cat is hiding and is not ready to be confronted with the reality yet. Griffin is a Warlord. He is stubborn and Beta to the newly conquered kingdom Sinta. Sinta is the southern most part of their realm without Magic. He is aware that politics and power play an important role in holding kingdom. He is looking for a powerful mage who can cooperate with him and help him in holding Sinta.
Griffin notices cat and realizes she is exactly who is needed. Griffin becomes aware that she is kingmaker and magic she holds can be his the biggest weapon. He will use whatever means to get her to come with him and his Beta Team even if it involves kidnapping and tying her to himself day and night.
Book takes an entirely intriguing turn post that. The ride is intense and gripping. We meet Giants and Dragons. Battle and action scenes are epic. Magic is everywhere. There is an intense attraction between Cat and Griffin which burns your kindle.
The world building is excellent. I also enjoyed all the Greek Mythology integrated into the story, although I m not aware of the myths and facts. Narration is gripping. Loved these secondary characters Kato, craver and Flynn. They are wonderful, funny, loyal and intense. Pace and Plot were awesome.
Overall, I am impressed by this book, the touch of Greek mythology sets it apart from the other fantasy books I’ve read recently. If you’re looking for a fun fantasy with a strong heroine who falls for an equally strong hero then this book has all those ingredients! It also has a hefty dose of action, adventure and magic.

Kingmaker. Soothsayer. Warrior. Mage.Kingdoms would rise and fall for her . . . if she is ever found
In the icy North, where magic is might, an all-powerful elite ruthlessly guided by a glacial Queen have grown to dominate the world. Now rebellion is stirring in the rough, magic-poor South, where for the first time in memory a warlord has succeeded in uniting the tribal nations.
Stuck in the middle is Cat – circus performer and soothsayer – safely hidden behind heavy make-up, bright colours and the harmless illusion of the circus. Until someone suspects she’s more than she seems . . .
Captured by the Southern warlord Griffin, Cat’s careful camouflage is wearing thin. For how long can – or should – she conceal the true extent of her power? Faced with dragons, homicidal mages, rival Gods and the traitorous longings of her own heart, she must decide: is it time to claim her destiny and fight?
