Vengeance of a Mafia Queen by Siobhan Davis

Title: Vengeance of a Mafia Queen

Author: Siobhan Davis

My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟1/2

Type: Standalone

Genre: contemporary Romance, Mafia Romance

 Narration: Dual POV

Primary Characters: Massimo & Catarina

I have enjoyed several Siobhan books earlier. When I was looking for my next book and saw this in Kindle recommendations, I just picked it up. I didn’t have much expectation when I picked it up, however, book was captivating, fast paced and had several wonderful dynamic characters. This story is set up in Mazzone mafia world.

Story starts with Catarina rising to become a mafia queen by taking over husband’s family. She is on a revenge mission. Catarina was kidnapped, tortured, violated and kept as captive in cage when she was 13 years old. Person responsible for this is already dead and Catarina still feels the need to extract revenge on his family. Part of her plan involves marrying the younger brother of her tormentor.

Massimo is one of the most dynamic characters. I loved him more than anyone in Mazzone world. He is the brilliant combination of empathy, power, strength and skill. I loved his confident playful nature equally. Catarina is a powerhouse. I have extreme admiration for her character. With all the horrors she has endured in her life, the way she rises with sheer determination and will power definitely makes her the queen. Her strength and vulnerability is highlighted well.  Banter between the characters was appealing.

I loved the relationship building. It seemed like fast forwarded at some points but ok for a standalone book. The chemistry between Massimo and Catarina was off the charts. Their journey and growth, from not-trusting and hating each other to support each other and work as a team together was worth watching.

I didn’t like the epilogue at all. It was a total let-down. Author tried to make it look like a happily ever after, which could have done in other different other ways ☹. Inspite, of ending being a let-down, I liked the revenge story with a scheming heroine and a sexy male lead. This book was entertaining and had a good amount of plot twists. Writing style was simple and captivating. Secondary characters were good. All those secondary characters bought the liveliness and essence. Fiero, Ben, Sierra, Leo, Alesso are awesome. Even though I want more of Fiero, I’m not opposed to know more about Accardi bothers.

Overall, a delicious mafia romance read.  With exciting plot twists and actions this book keeps you on the edge of your seat.
